Making an Art Journal , using an old Hard cover Novel.

I got some old books from a Used Book store and wanted to transform them into an Art Journal.

-First I got a piece of canvas and mod podge it to the cover and inside flap.

- Then I painted the cover, making sure to water my paints down.

-I added some stamps to the front using Archival Ink and Unity's Worn Grid Background , Vintage Postcard and Heartfelt Memories.

-some more paint for texture.

-I then made my girl .. but you could use this wonderful Suzi Blu stamp Spring Flower Chic.

- added more stamps to the girl and some rub-ons.

I also did my inside flap.

- Painted the pages using craft acrylic paint

- Paper pieced patterned papers to make my house and banner shape

- stamped the background using Hearts of Old background stamp with paint.

-stamped Vintage Ledger with Archival Ink.

- added my paper pieced papers with Mod Podge.

- let dry and added some stamps from the June 2009 KOM.

So if you love to Art Journal.. this is a fun way to make your own book and recycle an old hard cover novel. You might be asking about the pages.. for each page I am glueing 3 pages together to get a thick page to work with..

oh thanks Maria.. I think I want to make a couple of them.. Maybe ones for the kids to journal or do whatever in.. I think that would be a great treasure to have later on when they are older. and it will be bounded so even better.
